Maine Seacoast Mission Experience

PULSE Annual Fund

The PULSE annual fund enables Sigma Kappa Foundation to grow, thrive and innovate. Through our five funding priorities, which we call PULSE, we fulfill our mission to enhance the lives of Sigma Kappa members. Gifts to the PULSE annual fund provide ongoing support for personal growth and leadership development, mental health resources, career preparedness, financial literacy programs, educational programming, emergency grants and scholarships.

In short, a strong PULSE equals a strong Heart. We must make the heart of our Sorority continue to beat for generations to come.

Maine Seacoast Mission Experience

The Maine Seacoast Mission Service Immersion Experience

The Maine Seacoast Mission Service Immersion Experience allows collegiate and alumnae members the opportunity to develop a perspective about the challenges that other people face and recognize their own ability to make a real difference. This experience strengthens self-confidence and a sense of competence, developing memories and connections that will last a lifetime.

During this one-week summer program, members take part in the Mission’s Housing Improvement program which repairs and rehabilitates homes in the area. They learn about all the Mission’s programs, including the Sunbeam and the Christmas program, tour Colby College and the surrounding area where our Founders lived, immersing themselves in Sigma Kappa history.

Since the beginning of the program, three years ago, the Foundation has fully underwritten this experience. The program is now up for renewal and needs funding to continue. Check out some highlights of this trip on Sigma Kappa's TikTok!

Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar when you donate to this fund.

“The power of the experience is the immersion; you live, work and learn alongside those you’ve never met, but have a special bond with. Doing good and giving back to the Mission allowed me to grow in ways I didn’t know I needed. Because of the Foundation, I can take all I’ve learned back to my community and pay it forward.”

This immersive experience allows members to focus on personal growth, service and learning opportunities, while taking part in the Mission’s Housing Improvement program. In addition, each participant is eligible for a grant to create change in their community. Over the last three years, members have used these grants to support literacy, food insecurity, homeless shelters, teachers, accessible students, Alzheimer's disease caregivers, domestic violence shelters and many more

“Trauma and PTSD can be a life changing experience. These learning modules helped me understand that as a leader in my sisterhood, it is important for me to be aware that women may be going through serious things and to always speak with kindness and support.”

"This program gave me confidence to reach out of my comfort zone. If you took time to reflect, all SK's values were present. The friendship and sisterhood I experienced was welcoming and joyous, the service was rewarding, the personal growth was extraordinary, and the loyalty connection to our Founders was touching, even emotional. I loved all that this trip gave me and feel lucky to have been a part of it. Thank you!

"Sigma Kappa remains the reason I've continued to succeed after graduating. I remain connected to the values I gained from Sigma Kappa undergrad. Careerhouse was a wonderful tool to show the power of self-awareness and strategic thinking and planning and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to achieve their career dreams.
